A quantifiable field test method for determining wet film thickness of coatings on most substrates.
A quantifiable field test method for determining wet film film thickness of coatings on most sibstrates. This test method provides a permanent record of wet film thickness for contractors, inspectors, and owners. The "WFT STRIPS"™ kit includes 20 test strips, a cylindrical holder, and a clear delineated multi/purpose thickness comparator (mils and microns) and measuring device (inches and millimeters).
The "WFT STRIPS"™ are approximately 2" wide X 10 " in length and are held vertically in a cylindrical holder. The "WFT STRIPS"™ are inserted into the wet film and after removal the wet film on the "WFT STRIPS"™ is then compared to the known matching thickness of the comparator. The "WFT STRIPS"™ allows for the recording of 5 wet film thickness readings, an average, high and low reading, solids by volume, project title, testdate and tester's signature. The readings, wet/dry, can be further verified by the use of a PIG "paint inspection gauge" (Tooke).
The clear multi/purpose comparator and the measuring device is also useful in measuring both in inches or millimeters the width of crack, size of exposed aggrate, blister sizes and the sizes of voids and pinholes.
